Goodbye, Def Jam. Hello, Roc Nation.

After thoroughly severing all ties with Def Jam Records a few weeks ago both contractually and in a song earlier this month, the artist formerly known as Young Jeezy became one of the rap game’s hottest “free agents,” if you will. Leave it to Jay-Z, as he’s done time and again throughout this year already (see, Kevin Durant, Skylar Diggins), to swoop in and snag Jeezy for his burgeoning Roc Nation label. The partnership was revealed on Jay’s Life+Times website, bearing the above picture and the words “It’s Official Now.” (I mean, what more CAN you say? Right, Jay?)

Jeezy will certainly be a boost to the Sony/Universal affiliate, whose roster already bears J. Cole, Wale, Bridget Kelly, Melanie Fiona, M.I.A., and recent signees Calvin Harris and DJ Mustard. And I guess this means the fourth installment of Thug Motivation won’t take nearly as long to reach us, either. CTE x Hov. You could do a LOT worse.
