Bulls & Blackjack

Houston Texans fans know Wade Smith as the hulking center/guard bearing the number “74” who does his damnedest to protect Matt Schaub from any charging linebackers. What you may not know, however, is that for the past year and a half, Smith has teamed up with Dallas-to-Houston-implant entrepreneur and “Jill of All Trades” Summer Galvez to establish The Wade Smith Foundation (WSF), a non-profit specifically geared towards providing educational opportunities for youth in the Houston area. WSF has hosted a number of events in Houston to raise money for charitable causes related to education. The Foundation’s newest initiative for philanthropy occurs later this month, when it hosts its first-ever “Bulls & Blackjack” event on October 17th.

Combining an air of exclusivity and opulence while also providing a night of entertainment and charity, guests will have the opportunity to bet wealthy wagers via a silent auction against Houston’s philanthropists, celebrities, professional athletes and socialites to raise money and awareness for The Wade Smith Foundation’s educational programs, such as the annual Wade Smith Foundation Scholarship and its Reading With the Pros Literacy Program. Oh, and there will be drinks and mock blackjack and poker as well.

Do you feel lucky? Even if you don’t, #BullsAndBlackjack presents an opportunity to give back and contribute to the Wade Smith Foundation’s efforts to give Houston youth a fighting chance when it comes to their education. The event will be held at the upscale The Marque Club in City Centre, located at 12860 Queensbury Lane. Doors open at 6 PM, with the red carpet being rolled out at 7. Cocktail/dress to impress attire is required.
