Howard August 7, 2013 News “[Black America has] come to terms with the fact that we live in a country that eats its young – OUR young.” – Editor’s Note, EBONY Magazine, September 2013 issue The Trayvon Martin-George Zimmerman trial may be over, but its memory and the aftershocks the case left on the country are far from gone. And just in case you thought it would be easy to forget the 17-year-old young man, long-standing print publication EBONY Magazine intends to pay tribute to the memory of Trayvon Martin in its September issue next month, with four “special edition” covers of families posing with their young Black male offspring. Spike Lee and his son Jackson; Boris Kodjoe and his son Nicolas; Dwyane Wade and his two little boys, Zion and Zaire; and finally Tracy Martin, Sybrina Fulton and Trayvon’s older brother Jahvaris (whose resemblance to Trayvon is SCARY uncanny and apparent on this cover) will appear on four different covers of EBONY’s September issue. In addition to its four tribute covers, EBONY’s September issue has a focus on “Saving Our Sons” and will include an in-depth interview with the Martin family, assessments and suggestions for challenging Stand Your Ground laws across the country, and more. Below, you can peep all four of the EBONY Magazine September 2013 Trayvon Martin tribute covers. The magazine’s September issue arrives in stores this week. Images Courtesy of Mediaite.
