Slippin’: DMX Files For Bankruptcy, Owes $1.2 Million In Child Support Brandon Caldwell July 30, 2013 News 1 Comment “Slippin” was a prophecy we all tried to ignore for Dark Man X. The rapper, born Earl Simmons filed for bankruptcy today according to the Wall Street Journal citing the need to “reorganize” his financial affairs. The father of 10 owes an astounding $1.24 million in back child support as well as his debts ranging from $1 million to $10 million. Court documents show that X has less than $50,000 in assets. In a statement made by his publicist Domenick Nati, the rapper’s money woes can be attribute to prior poor management which has left him unable to obtain a passport for overseas performances. “DMX’s financial strains have been inhibiting his career for several years. Poor financial management by prior representation have caused him to be ineligible to retain a passport. The purpose of this bankruptcy filing is for reorganization so he can perform for his fans oversees. We are currently planning a tour in Europe and Africa for the fall of 2013.” X was recently arrested in South Carolina on DUI charges.
