A brand new EP from ANTHM should boast the usual fanfare of any relatively polished rapper with a unique backstory to rap and the ability to convey more than his fair share of stories into yarns of musical joy. However, The Fire Next Time comes with a bit of a catch to it. Sure, Handful Of Dust came and went in March, an EP helmed mostly by Blue production and the producer-emcee vibe the two built upon from recent collaborations. Taking its title from a James Baldwin book dealing with race relations and the idea of religion to the growth of a borough such as Harlem, the EP’s eight tracks should roll around in plenty of thought and they do from early standout “I Remember” produced by Freddie Joachim and “Vultures”.
