In WTF News: Miss Utah Wants Us To “Create Education Better” Brandon Caldwell June 17, 2013 Flicks, TV/Movies Man, if last night didn’t have something for everyone on TV. There was Payback for the wrestling fans which easily turned into the best PPV fo the year, there was of course Game 5 of the NBA Finals and then there was also this, the 2013 Miss USA Pageant. Always known for one WTF moment every year, the f–ks were completely not given once Miss Utah, Marissa Powell took the stage for her exchange with Nene Leakes. That’s right, the above thing happened. Five years ago, you couldn’t have even bet me that Nene Leakes would be delivering questions to Miss USA as a revered figure in America. Nene asked her about women’s inequality in the workforce, a simple spot that calls for a rather simple answer, right? Well … here’s the transcript of the exchange: Nene Leakes: A recent report shows that in 40 percent of American families with children, women are the primary earners. Yet, they continue to earn less than men. What does this say about society? Miss Utah: I think we can relate this back to education and how we are continuing to try to strive to (pause) figure out how to create jobs right now. That is the biggest problem and I think, especially the men, are umm, seen as the leaders of this and so we need to try and figure out how to create education better so we can solve this problem. I’m not going to say Miss Utah wasn’t nervous but yeah – this wasn’t the brightest June moment for the state considering it’s the same month where Karl Malone & John Stockton failed twice to bring home an NBA title. But I digress, you stay classy Utah!
