Freddie Gibbs - ESGN-1

This is not a test – yes, it’s true. Freddie Gibbs’ follow-up to last year’s Baby Face Killa, ESGN (East Side Gary N*ggas), is coming sooner than both DETOX and Act II: Patents of Nobility. And by “sooner,” we mean this coming July.

Not content with just unveiling that ESGN was forreal, forreal on its way, Gary, Indiana’s own Gangsta also decided to unveil ESGN’s official tracklisting AND to namedrop two additional projects he has on deck before 2013 ends: a collaboration with Madlib entitled Cocaine Piñatas and a sequel to his Str8 Killa, Str8 Killa 2.

A few quick things to note on that tracklisting. First, we will FINALLY be getting a tag-free full version of “The Color Purple” because the Lord is kind and merciful to hip-hop heads. “East Side Moonwalker” looks to be Gibbs taking cues from fellow Gary, Indiana, native Michael Jackson. And it will be interesting to hear TDE’s own Jay Rock – who has just shy of scene stole on every one of his recent features – go toe to toe with Freddie on “Certified Live.” Hopes are high that ESGN‘s first single – which is hopefully the likely Biggie-inspired “Seen A Man Die” – drops next month. But let Gangsta Gibbs tell it, we’re in for a rappin’-ass fall.

Peep the tracklist for Freddie Gibbs’ forthcoming retail debut album ESGN (East Side Gary N*ggas) below.  And get your choppers, speakers, or credit cards (hell, all three) ready for when ESGN arrives July 9th.
