Houston’s iPod Ammo has a sense of style to him. If he’s on stage DJing for the likes of Fat Tony, the Space City Beat Battle or anywhere across the country – he’s usually clad in a tank top, a fitted and his trademark dreadlocks pulled back. He’s also an outward thinker, constantly dropping gems from Ghostface Killah or clips from Kevin Hart into his mixes, keeping the party light while also just being completely whimsical.

Outspoken with the use of his turntables, Ammo came to us with an idea – a mix putting together some of the best rappers in the country who didn’t exactly adhere to the same stereotypes rappers get put to. They’re part of the LGBT community. From bounce queen Big Freedia to New York’s own Cakes Da Killa, Mykki Blanco and more, all of rappers on Ammo’s “W/ Yo Gay Ass” mix break a few barriers, as well as drop a few quotables that are true to his quirky sense of humor. In Ammo’s words, “Shout to Matt & Trey Parker, Lil B and The Task Force & Bitch Mobb, and finally the ’89-’93 NY Ball Room Scene.”
