“Much like Wu-Tang Clan, Beastie Boys are for the children”

A year after his passing, Beastie Boy Adam “MCA” Yauch’s friends and family members gathered at Palmetto Park. Tucked away in Brooklyn Heights, the park is said to be where Yauch first learned how to ride a bike. It’s also the park which will now bear his name. At a tearful ribbon cutting ceremony, the park was renamed Adam Yauch Park and speakers such as Adam “Ad-Rock” Horowitz remarked on the late emcee, sharing stories and more. Brooklyn Borough Preisdent Marty Markowitz rapped his own version of the Beasties’ 2004 song, “An Open Letter To NYC”, remarking, “Asian, Middle Eastern, Latin, black, and white / Brooklyn, you do it just right,”
