Yesterday, Skylar Diggins broke ground by being the first female athlete to sign to Jay-Z’s newly minted Roc Nation Sports. How was this announced? Instagram of course. The former Notre Dame standout who was drafted #3 by the Tulsa Shock in this month’s WNBA Draft joins New York Yankees slugger Robinson Cano at the CAA-backed agency and proves that while they may be a bit nubile in the agency game, RNS is living once more by old Jay-Z lyrics, coming into the game strong, to paraphrase “U Don’t Know”.

Diggins is one of the focal points of a draft class the WNBA sees much like the 2003 NBA Draft class with #1 pick Britney Griner and #2 pick Elena Della Donne, hoping to pick up viewership and attention to the fledging women’s basketball league.

Sadly, all of the sisters who pledged Delta Sigma Theta might be saddened by the fact they don’t have Skylar in their midst. Given her basketball acumen and potential to be a star in the league, she might be given honorary status before it’s all said and done.
