The aesthetic of palm trees and top down raps belongs squarely to Dom Kennedy. Since From The Westside With Love, DK has pretty much churned out summer tapes and moves that last year made The Yellow Album such a staple well into winter. Dom knows his lane, doesn’t attempt to slide away from it.

So when news broke early Tuesday morning that Dom would be producing a brand new album for summer 2013, you can imagine how excited people who’ve been following his career got. And also hot excited they became for what the summer could possibly mean in terms of music. There’s The-Dream’s album coming out in may, a possible Jay album on the horizon, Kanye almost waiting until the world isn’t talking about him to do something outlandish and more.

Jay held people down six summers. That might be Dom’s position now.
