Melanie Fiona - Wrong Side of a Love Song

Even though Melanie Fiona didn’t take home the Best Traditional R&B Performance Grammy last night – that honor, not surprisingly, went to Beyonce for “Love on Top” – that’s not stopping MF from continuing to push one of The MF Life‘s strongest tracks. Yesterday before the Grammys began, the songbird gave Jay-Z’s the green light to premiere the official music video for “Wrong Side of a Love Song.”

With Darius Lovehall himself – aka Larenz Tate – handling direction, the visuals for “Wrong Side of a Love Song” show the lovely Melanie recounting a relationship that started out great but soon went south. The stirring guitar and drums on the song are a perfect match for Fiona’s voice as emboldens every word with wrought emotions. The video itself, which stars eye candy for ladies Omari Hardwick as Melanie’s love interest, is also creatively executed, taking place mostly in the confines of Melanie’s apartment and juxtaposing images of the two, for example, showing them engaged in a pillow fight when things were good and them fighting in a verbal argument in the bad time. It’s certainly a heartstring puller headed into Valentine’s Day.
