R&B Singer Cecil Womack Dies At Age 65
Cecil Womack, the R&B singer who formed with wife Linda Womack & Womack has died according to reports. He was 65. Womack passed on Friday, February 1st. The causes are unknown.
Womack began his career in the 1960s in a gospel group with his brother Bobby called The Valentino’s. Both men took tutelage under Sam Cooke until his death in 1964. During that period Cecil was wed to fellow soul legend Mary Wells. The two divorced in 1977 and Cecil then went on to marry Linda Wells.
As Womack & Womack the group recorded several albums including 1983′s Love Wars and 1988′s Conscious, the latter of which spawned their biggest hit “Teardrops”. You can hear the song below.
