35 years in the making, Houston will be getting a statue to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King.

Shovels were out Sunday afternoon at a groundbreaking ceremony at MacGregor Park in southeast Houston for the ‘Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Statue and Park Plaza”. The news comes on the heels of Dr. King getting a commemorative doodle on the front page of the popular search engine Google and Barack Obama being sworn in once more as the 44th President of the United States on the commemorative King holiday.
