Bobby Womack Diagnosed With Alzheimers T. Piper January 2, 2013 News In his own words he’s a survivor of prostate cancer and colon cancer. He’s had my lungs completely cave in, he’s had walking pneumonia twice and he’s a diabetic. Yet his latest fight might be even more damaging than all of those. Soul singer Bobby Womack, who recently released an album The Bravest Man In The Universe in June has been diagnosed with early onset Alzheimers. He revealed he’s currently fighting the disease in a BBC6 News radio interview, remarking that he often forgets his own songs and the names of collaborators. “How can I not remember songs that I wrote?” he’s quoted saying. “That’s frustrating.” Tragedy has followed Womack for decades, from the shooting death of his mentor Sam Cooke, the death of two sons and his brother Harry in a domestic dispute.
