Soul singer Bobby Womack, who recently released an album The Bravest Man In The Universe in June has been diagnosed with early onset Alzheimers. He revealed he’s currently fighting the disease in a BBC6 News radio interview, remarking that he often forgets his own songs and the names of collaborators. “How can I not remember songs that I wrote?” he’s quoted saying. “That’s frustrating.”

Tragedy has followed Womack for decades, from the shooting death of his mentor Sam Cooke, the death of two sons and his brother Harry in a domestic dispute.
