9th Wonder and Jay-Z are not strangers to one another. As most already know if you’re a 9th historian, the North Carolina producer crafted “Threats” in front of Jay using only Fruity Loops and a timely chop of R. Kelly’s “A Woman’s Threat” for The Black Album. Inspired by Hov’s 2007 “concept album” American Gangster, 9th went back over the vocals and crafted instrumentals that added to the soulful imagery Hov put down in his own re-imagination of the 70s. Thus, Black American Gangster was born with samples from The Stylistics, The Jackson 5, Barry White, Kool & The Gang and more.

In his own words 9th says, “I wanted Black American Gangster to sound like a 70′s soundtrack, or to sound like a bunch of 70s groups came through and rocked with Jay…Therefore…I put “featuring” on a lot of the jams…..hope yall enjoy #BlackAmericanGangster”
