Houston folk most certainly have been waiting for a Chopped Not Slopped version of Kendrick Lamar’s riveting major-label debut good kid, m.A.A.d. city since the album’s earliest streamed clips made their way onto the internets. Lo and behold, Go DJ Candlestick and OG Ron C have heard the cries of the people and given the “good kid” the Purple Treatment.

Slowed down in some parts and chopped to perfection in others, good kid, Purple City gives Kendrick’s album slightly less of a West Coast feel in order to make it much more whip-test worthy. In your head, you already had an idea of how tracks like “B*tch Don’t Kill My Vibe” and “Poetic Justice” might sound slowed down. Thanks to DJ Candlestick, they sound better than anything you could’ve imagined. I guarantee it.
