Video: Jhene Aiko – Mirrors Bradford J. Howard December 5, 2012 Music Video 1 Comment With the ink still fresh on the page from Jhene Aiko’s officially being signed to Def Jam Records, Aiko’s follow-up to 2010’s superb sailing soul(s), entitled soul(ed) out is headed our way soon. And just to ensure we haven’t forgotten about her, Jhene has let loose a set of visuals for a song called “Mirrors,” one of the tracks expected to appear on the new album. Seeming to take its cues from the television show “American Horror Story” and the movie Black Swan, the music video for the Key Wane-produced “Mirrors” – directed by Topshelf Junior – is every bit as self-reflective as the song’s lyrics might imply, showing Jhene as a ballerina searching for herself and finding a “dark” side within. While the images are certainly haunting, the slightly creepy nature of the video is offset by shots of the gorgeous Aiko adorned in a leotard. It’s like art, minus the thirst. Jhene Aiko’s soul(ed) out is due out early 2013.
