With Penn State still a sore recent memory, the nation is once again stunned as new sexual misconduct allegations have arisen.

Kevin Clash, the voice and puppeteer for beloved Sesame Street character Elmo, has been accused of having a sexual relationship with a young male.

While Clash revealed to People via his rep “I am a gay man. I have never been ashamed of this or tried to hide it, but felt it was a personal and private matter;” he insists that the relationship occurred when the accuser, who is now 23, was of legal age, not 16 as he claims.

Said Clash via a statement, “I had a relationship with the accuser,” his statement continues. “It was between two consenting adults and I am deeply saddened that he is trying to characterize it as something other than what it was. I am taking a break from Sesame Workshop to deal with this false and defamatory allegation.”

Advised the Sesame Street Workshop via statement; “Although this was a personal relationship unrelated to the workplace, our investigation did reveal that Kevin exercised poor judgment and violated company policy regarding internet usage and he was disciplined.”

Clash has taken a leave of absence.
