Obama Mural In Houston Defaced Brandon Caldwell October 16, 2012 News Political season once more brings out vandals to the popular Barack Obama mural outside of local eatery The Breakfast Klub (3811 Travis & West Alabama) in Houston. The mural, which was erected in 2008 on request of restaurant owner Marcus Davis in support of then Senator Obama’s run for the White House was defaced by vandals who painted a red streak over the eyes of the President, a sign that the President sees things through “rose-tinted” glasses. Photographer Marco Torres notes in a new image that the mural has been painted over and will be recommissioned by the original artist according Davis. The original image takes from Shepard Fairey’s now iconic HOPE depiction of the President. Here is a photo of the mural before it was defaced and a shot by Torres via his Instagram page.
