Dom Kennedy x DJ Mr. Rogers – The Purple Album

Following in the tradition of Houston DJs turning some of the year’s best albums purple, Dom Kennedy’s underappreciated The Yellow Album effort gets the Chopped Not Slopped treatment courtesy of DJ Mr. Rogers.

While “Been Thuggin’” still clocks in as the hardest (yet the most painfully short) track on The Purple Album, being Chopped Not Slopped absolutely serves the Kendrick Lamar-assisted “Go Hard” and “Honeys & Money” well, and unintentionally, DJ Mr. Rogers may have mixed “Conversations” into something worthy of the F*ck Action mixtapes. The talented DJ flexes his own mixing muscle on the track “Riding In Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood,” as well.

But yes, DJ Mr. Rogers’ The Purple Album is certainly whip-test approved.
