As it’s been previously discussed, Jay-Z’s Made In America festival was the top billing moment of my weekend, in a weekend already stuffed with them. Yes, college football had returned in glorious fashion, I had to endure the fact that my alma mater took an L to Texas State, that some of the staffers were having a little war between the local HBCUs and bragging rights were on the line and my brothers had come from out of town to hang for the weekend.

So, a round of pool and good drinks pretty much numbed my wanting of being in Philadelphia for at least this Labor Day weekend. Then my brother who flew in from Philly from grad school made the stern face when I brought it up, “Kanye too? If I had known about this before I made plans, I wouldn’t be seeing any of you n-ggas!”

We laughed. But thank the internet. Yardie, one of the world’s hardest working rippers brought down the footage from MIA with Jay-Z bringing out State Property during his set, G.O.O.D. Music crashing the stage with an impromptu set, MMG, D’Angelo, Jay Electronica (!), Janelle Monáe and more. He didn’t bring down Prince Royce, Dirty Projectors or Calvin Harris but we can live, because he’s Yardie and he’s king.

I’m just curious how things will play out today with day two of the festival with Drake, Odd Future, Jill Scott and Pearl Jam taking the stage.
