Rapsody – Round Table Discussion (f. Mac Miller & The Cool Kids) Bradford J. Howard August 24, 2012 The Leak The release date is fast approaching for Rapsody’s official debut album The Idea of Beautiful, and the Day & A Dream #BreakoutQueen seems determined to make this effort her rawest set of cuts ever. Earlier this month, Rapsody dropped the album’s single, “Believe Me”; and today, Rapsody let loose “Round Table Discussion,” yet another one of the joints that should pop up on Beautiful. Rapsody on 9th Wonder production is always quite the pairing, and 9th’s work on the boards for “Round Table Discussion” is solid again. The beat is subtle enough to literally set the stage for each artist to spit conversation-style over it, and even the internet’s favorite rapper Mac Miller is pretty quotable on the track (lowkey, it’s almost like Rapsody brings out the best in Mac. See also “Blankin’ Out”). But of course, Rapsody herself delivers the most powerful set of bars. Announcing her presence at the 3:14 mark with the words “Rap’ is the name,” she proceeds to spend the next few lines switching her flow and delivery up. It’s bittersweet given that Rapsody’s verse on this one is short, but in the time that is hers, she more than makes the most of it. Sucker femcees and rapheads in general, you’ve been put on notice. Rapsody’s The Idea of Beautiful arrives August 28, though you can preorder it on iTunes now.
