Pussy Riot Members Given 2 Year Sentence

On hooliganism charges, the infamous provocative punk band that has caused an international uproar, Pussy Riot, has been issued to the three band members to two years sentence by a Moscow judge. Apparently, it is believed that that judge convicted them on the account that the band members “committed hooliganism driven by religious hatred,” and have stepped on toes of religious believers. In March, after a guerrilla performance in Moscow’s main cathedral calling for Virgin Mary to protect Russia against Vladimir Putin, an elect to serve as Russia’s president, the band members were promptly arrested and ever since have had various voices from around the world speaking on their behalf such as Madonna, Tegan and Sara, Kate Nash, Sting, Björk, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Paul McCartney. I am more than sure that this will be not the last the world hears of this controversy.

Video: Lady Gaga’s Bodyguard Slams Random Guy Seeking Autograph

I have to admit, Lady Gaga is a priceless piece in history, but enough to body slam a random fan seeking an autograph? Immediately a chuckle seeps through the cracks of my lips as I watch the poor guy with a pen and paper in hand’s breath leave his body. I guess the fan came on a little too strong? *shrugs*

Limp Bizkit Over?

Everyone is questioning whether or not Limp Bizkit is over. Although the group signed with Lil Wayne‘s label Cash Money Records earlier this year, nothing new has been released from the band since last summer. In a conversation with Kerrang!, Fred Durst made this statement.

“We don’t play back home. We’ve boycotted America for many years now. I don’t know, I just don’t wanna go out like that. We did a few radio shows in 2010 for a friend and that was it. We haven’t properly toured America since 2006.

The reason? We just don’t know what’s going on in America. It’s all about the new catchy thing and that’s always changing. America is driven by record sales. It’s the home of corporations. We’re just Limp Bizkit, so we don’t know how to do anything but Limp Bizkit.

But here’s the deal: say in 2000, there were 35 million people who connected to this band. Twelve years later, lots of those people have moved on. We were a moment in time and it’s over.”

Since the comment was made, guitarist Wes Borland obvious has had a nerve struck and replied via Twitter with this rebuttal:

Although Durst hasn’t said “Limp Bizkit is over,” he pretty damn well implied it. It is understood that everyone is going to have a different take on these particular statements, but to be literal, the band looks like it is not in for a comeback season.

Green Day’s “Oh Love” Stays Number One On Rock Charts

In the summer of 2009, when the Billboard Rock Songs Chart was born, the No. 1 song for the first week was “Know Your Enemy” by Green Day. Now the group has returned with another ballpark smasher that has held the No/ 1 sport for the third time in the last four weeks, holding back Linkin Park‘s “Burn It Down,” again. Thinking Green Day might have something in the months to come upon the releases of the trio’s ménage of albums ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, and ¡Tré!

Alicia Keys Announces New Album “Girl On Fire”

The renowned singer, Alicia Keys announces the new title of her upcoming album via her website as Girl On Fire. Here is the love letter below:

“Hey…

I’m in the studio right now working away on my new album and I am SO excited!!! I’m ignited!!! I’m like a match to a flame! I’ve had the title of this album in my mind for a long time….It’s been hard to hold it back and now I’m not holding it back anymore! It is called Girl on Fire!!! And that’s exactly how I feel!!! You’ll be learning more about it soon… but let me just say before making this record, in some ways I felt like a lion locked in a cage…I felt like a girl misunderstood that no one really knew, I felt like it was time to stop making excuses for any part of my life that I wanted to change. Once I made that choice I became a Girl on Fire, the lion broke free!!

During the recording process, I mostly stayed in NY but on some cool and memorable occasions, I traveled to different places, and worked with many collaborators, (some old friends, some new). I discovered so many beautiful sounds, and meanings and a lot about the power of a song. I can’t wait to share this album with you. I promise when you hear it, it’s a new me, I gave it my all: powerful, soulful, honesty and heart… With Girl on Fire, I want to move you and surprise you.

Girl on Fire is about new beginnings, new perspectives and fresh starts… stripping away all the bad energy in your life and taking full control of the reigns and how you want to live. There is something really empowering about finding yourself and your own inner strength. On one song, One of the lines I wrote says, “I’ll never be perfect, but at least now I’m brave!”

Here’s to finding your power! Your FIRE!! Stay tuned for more.

In the meantime, thank you for all your love, strength and support.

-Alicia
