Over the weekend, Adidas’s latest originals release the JS Roundhouse Mid “Handcuffs” caught the eye of sneakerheads and Adidas aficionados for all the wrong reasons. Although the design was inspired by 90s toy sensation My Little Monster according to shoe designer Jeremy Scott, backlash reached a fever pitch when the nation caught wind of it and cited “slavery” as their initial reaction. Not wasting anytime, Adidas promptly shelved the sneaker and released a statement saying, “We apologize if people are offended by the design and we are withdrawing our plans to make them available in the marketplace.”
