Following a grueling 7-game series with the Boston Celtics, the Miami Heat are a series away from a second NBA title and first for LeBron James. Standing in their way? The league’s scoring champion and arguably second best player in Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The seeds have been set for this matchup since the lockout with Durant making himself known to NBA fans via social media, his exploits at the Rucker and more. The MVP race & regular season battles have all given basketball fans what they wanted to see – the best two players in the world going after one another for the league’s richest prize.

As much as I loved this particular Celtics team and the mystique behind the Big Three, the NBA needed this matchup a bit more. And now, time to let the clock tick until Tuesday night in OKC.
