Since Harry Fraud’s behind the totality of Smoke DZA’s upcoming Rugby Thompson LP, the tape is already going to garner some replay value on that alone. “Ashtray” combines stadium guitars, wailing celestials and vibrant slaps with the hazy echo of 2 Chainz’s “Spend It”. DZA and Domo Genesis have already come together so their chemistry is definitely not in question. It’s the work of fellow bucket hat enthusiast ScHoolboy Q which plays key here, scrunch faced and well wounded like a toy gun ready to spout off at a moment’s notice, especially when Q states he’s anti-KONY. Guess Ab-Soul rubbed off on him during Control System for that line. Rugby Thompson is out on June 19th with features from Action Bronson, Curren$y, Sean Price & more.
