It took a little while to getting used to but John Mayer, his folk singer looks and his new album Born & Raised will find themselves atop the Billboard album charts today as the singer’s fifth studio album netted 230,000 copies in sales according to SoundScan. It’s Mayer’s third #1 album following 2009’s Battle Studies & 2003’s Heavier Things.

Adele’s 21 continues to do things only it can possibly achieve at this point as the singer’s sophomore album moved 54,000 copies in its 66th week, bringing it’s total haul to 9.2 million followed by Carrie Underwood, MercyMe and One Direction who jump five slots to #5 with their album Up All Night. Last week’s #1 Adam Lambert fell ten spots to #11 with Trespassing selling 23,000 copies. In hip-hop news, Nicki Minaj maintains the top album in that category with Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded picking up another 18,000 copies (#21 overall), followed by B.o.B (12,000 copies, #28 overall), Rihanna (11,000 copies, #30 overall) and Drake (9,000 copies, #42 overall).
