BJ The Chicago Kid – The World Is A Ghetto (f. Kendrick Lamar)

The first go-round with the soulful voice of the Chi & the TDE native from Compton was so stirring and dep it deserved a little additive. So, while we were thankful we didn’t become narcoleptic over BJ’s Pineapple Now & Laters release (it was pushed back to be released on iTunes yesterday), we more than happy to showcase one last gift to the people in “The World Is A Ghetto” between the same two that made “His Pain” a strong positive going into the full length.

Adding a bit of upbeat funk to an otherwise dreary classic, Battle Cat & Jarius Mozee splice in other noteworthy samples for the reworked version of War’s timeless look into the plight of the world. While its more contemporary version is stretched out for good measure, it still pays homage to the original all with BJ’s penchant for bringing listeners in by doing minimal vocal work and K. Dot once again standing as the voice of the 80s babies. Cop Pineapple Now & Laters on iTunes now.
