“We Pimp C, you n*ggas can’t be Bun…”

Whether you want to call him YS or Young Sensation, the college grad with rap ambitions can smile knowing that something he’s put work in for what seemed like forever is finally done. Blustering horns and general well being are the themes that run through C.H.I.L.L., where YS flexes his muscle alongside Doughbeezy, Show, O.N.E, Yung Truth, Pinc Gator, YaFamAce and more over the course of 20 tracks. Whether it be StuntNDozier’s mix of easy to recognize samples (see Quincy Jones’ “Summertime In The City” on “Intermission”) or the slight spaghetti western chop by The ProDeuser on “Blown By The Wind”, the production doesn’t move much further from the needle. Contemporary, smooth and at times menacing, C.H.I.L.L. stands by itself as a project from a rapper who carries himself like a schoolboy, easily influenced at times but more than to show out on his own.
