The largest record company in the world now owns the fourth-largest company in the world as Universal Records purchased EMI today for $1.9 billion. Aside from UMG becoming even more powerful than they already are, they ended up acquiring the catalogs of such acts as Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Beach Boys, Radiohead, Coldplay & more.

In a sense for bloggers who decide to repost content concerning those particular bands, it’s going to be even harder keeping it up thanks to Universal’s newfound war on piracy.

Score one for major corporations.
