In commemoration of the tenth anniversary of the attacks on September 11th, numerous tributes have occurred across the country. From the unveiling of the September 11th Memorial in New York, the memorial to those who lost their lives on Flight 93 as well as those who died at the Pentagon, the entire country has been enveloped in a sense of solemn remembrance and pride.

During this period ten years ago, Jay-Z was riding a wave of his own. Having solidified himself as arguably the “mythical” King of New York in the wake of the death of his close friend The Notorious B.I.G., Jay made no qualms about being the best, tossing darts at other New Yorkers on the famed Summer Jam stage earlier that summer.

When it came down to his particular release day for The Blueprint, Hov couldn’t have foreseen the casualties of that day. As a matter of fact as Hov will admit, his reaction to supporting those who hemmed him up most of his life would be met with deaf ears. Still, Jay changed his tune while on tour, delivering a freestyle about the victims in true Jiggaman fashion. Shocked no one picked up on the “I’m not a Christian line”.
