Paying homage to Texas’ screw culture is one thing, paying homage to screw culture with a hazy visual with blonde chicks who have gold fronts lip-syncing and plenty of snapbacks is another. Yet, that’s what Harlem rapper ASAP Rocky does with a wind chime approach to “Purple Swag”, lulling everyone in with the druggy sort of enthusiasm that would have made Lil Wayne blush while raising his double cup in enjoyment. Kind of ironic at the fact he’s wearing a “F*ck Swag” t-shirt while bouncing around repeating the phrase that has taken over hip-hop long after many proclaimed it dead.
