Running with the Kevin Nottingham stamp of approval for one of the best free LPs of the year (so far), Baton Rouge producer John Wade and South Carolina emcee J.O. Cool have come together to release their First Impressions.

From the onset it’s evident that Wade is a fan of deep percussion and horns, letting his country cousin do plenty of the talking of the album. Cool offers his thoughts on relationships on “Look What You Made Me Do”, the game itself on the head banging “Put It On” and more. Half bluesy, half funk – Wade’s found the perfect compliment to his production outside of Rebel Je’ with Cool and First Impressions should serve notice that regionalism knows no limits between the edges of the South.
