In mid March, during the gamut of mixtapes that seemingly dropped every day, Houston rapper, writer, part time comedian and motivational speaker Renzo dropped his Random Ass Mixtape or R.A.M. for short. Despite it’s “jacking for beats” nature, R.A.M. contained bits and pieces that made us fans of Renzo’s full length from November, Understand This.

There was comedy, smart assed remixes of modern hits with Mr. Curley’s brand of being informative from a wise sage on your block perspective and the sort of effort that makes us believe that he could be the Houston version of Cee-Lo if everything came together perfectly. His crooning over KiD CuDi‘s “Day N Nite” entitled “Don’t Ya” is hypnotizing seduction straight from Acres Homes and flips Yungstar‘s “Knockin’ Pictures Off The Wall” into a School House Rock infomercial about the various ways you can refer to women.

Diversity is the name of the game in beat selection here as Ren touches poetics over Ghostface Killah‘s “Back Like That”, Trae Tha Truth‘s “Inkredible”, T-Pain‘s “N Luv Wit A Stripper” & more, proving that even by badgering us for a three month period, we can still remember interesting projects when they show up randomly on the iPod.

Stream the tape below and as an added bonus, check the trailer to Ren’s “Drinkin’ N Drivin” video where it takes the concept of reaction videos to an entirely different level.
