The loud stadium roars and chants of Coldplay are going to be at full blast when the group starts touring all over the world again. From Glastonbury to Austin City Limits, the band fronted by Chris Martin shall have open arms welcoming them back to music after 2008’s Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends. However, their first little hint to us “Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall” sounds a little bit on the glitzy but tired side.

Yes, driving techno and spacious guitars swell of the course of the track and Martin’s falsetto is still intact but when you think of Coldplay, arguably the next big band to follow in the steps of U2 do you really think a poppy stadium song much like Chris Brown‘s been trying to replicate for a while now? Many can be glad that Brian Eno (who worked on much of Viva La Vida) delivered his atmospheric stadium rock to this particular tune but it’s schmaltzy and in the age where everyone’s following a train, would you ever expect Coldplay to do the same?
