A slow and steady buzz always wins the race in a game of who can reach the top first. The theory doesn’t apply to most rappers who wish to be on the same level of a legend one day but create the type of music that leaves them scrapping the Development League barrel. In other words, not everyone is going to make legendary status. There’s only one Michael Jordan and about 30,000 Brevin Knights out there.

Through word of mouth, shows, scene stealing appearances on other artists’ mixtapes, showing up and rapping whereever in the city, Doughbeezy has carved his name into the levels of Houston hip-hop as the “next” guy. With his intricate wordplay, double time flow and mixture of both Southern hustle & cockiness, The South East Beast has combed the city in preparation for his Reggie Bush & Kool-Aid mixtape, releasing it on the Smoker’s Holiday for ambient effect.

The only carry over from the No Money, No Conversation EP would be “Temperature’s Rising”, Dough’s punching bag knockout of a sexual jam over a chopped R. Kelly sample. Other than that, it’s stacked up production ready for The Beez to topple along with features coming from KAB Tha Don, Jodi B. Basik, Yung Truth & Dante Higgins just to name a few. Pour up a glass of Fruit Punch on the rocks, you might need to relax for this one.
