In the land of underrated rappers out of Houston, Preemo sits above them all. The Houston emcee was awarded with a top finish in the Houston Press’ best Houston hip-hop releases for his Concrete Dreams project, edging out the likes of The Niceguys, Bun B and more (only Trae’s Can’t Ban Tha Truth had a better showing, taking the top spot). Naturally you would expect him to get back into street marketing, going door to door, venue to venue to release his material out of his trunk.

Preemo Presents: The Magic Bullet is a different turn for the quiet as kept emcee. For starters, there are more features on this tape from high profile guests (Hollywood FLOSS appears on “Chemical Imbalance”) than who can to show out on Concrete Dreams but the main focus of the tape is the nomad who finds himself reaching out to one of his idols in Ice Cube in wondering how did the world’s angriest man once upon a time become a mellowed out family man with a purpose. Let the bullet take you to a place where everything in Houston doesn’t sit in the same landscape of 2005. Preemo’s one of the best out at carving a niche, especially one that went well unrepresented.
