Point blank, Gus Johnson has already earned the spot as announcer of many people’s lives. While there may not be any one announcer other than Gus that brings excitement to anything he calls (Kevin Harlan a close second), if you had a buzzer beater or last minute victory occur by the most impossible of reasons – you want the new voice of Madden to call it for you.

With Arizona & Washington deadlocked in OT for Pac-10’s automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament, Washington’s tiny 5’8″ PG Isaiah Thomas had the rock in his hands, waiting for his one shining moment well before the season concludes in April. Using the Kemba Walker famed stepback, Thomas sent the Staples Center in a delirium only one Kobe Bean Bryant could re-create.

A jumper so sweet, Johnson had only one phrase to describe it: “cold-blooded”.
