MTV Bans Kanye West’s Monster Video Brandon Caldwell March 5, 2011 News 1 Comment Looks like Yeezy can’t win with anybody these days when it comes to his videos getting airplay on TV. Feminine activists Sharon Haywood & Melinda Tankard created a petition to get MTV not to play West’s “Monster” video depicting violence against women and the folks at Viacom agreed. No worries for some as the video has been on the net since it leaked last December. “The mainstreaming of videos like this increases desensitized and callous attitudes toward violence against women,” said Reist, one of the campaign originators. “Young people are seeing images and absorbing harmful messages which glamorise misogyny and brutalise women. Women are reduced to sex-doll like playthings. So great is the level of desensitization that the barbaric treatment of women and girls is seen as normal and to be expected. We decided to run this campaign because we wanted to challenge the status quo.” SPOTTED: RR Share this:TweetShare on Tumblr One Response Video: Kanye West – Monster (f.
