For years, Houston has held many outdoor music festivals but the one that seemingly has stepped ahead of the pack in terms of not only names but actual crowd turnout would be Summerfest. Held annually at Eleanor Tinsley Park, Summerfest brings together some of the best in hip-hop, alternative rock, funk & more for a two day experience that many may revel in once it’s all said and done.

After experiencing SXSW alone last year (and I will again this year), I’ll be interested in seeing how large Houston comes out for this festival considering the lineup is pretty stacked with performers such as Weezer, MF Doom, Bun B, Z-Ro, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings & more.

A small presser from the official site:

We have been very lucky to have some amazing artists play the last two years, but this year’s festival lineup takes the cake. We’re featuring a handful of notable acts such as the Grammy-nominated Weezer, Yeasayer, Cut Copy, Ween, Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings, MF Doom, Black Dahlia Murder and, of course, boat loads more.  But, because we love seeing you guys on the edge of your seat, we are keeping a few BIG lineup-names up our sleeve. We will announce them ‘soonish.’
