When there’s a point guard in the league as athletic as Derrick Rose is, the world is a much safer place. The quiet former star of the University of Memphis is making his presence felt in Chicago. Holding down the notion of being the team’s first star A.J. (after Jordan), Rose has kept the Bulls floating around the 4-seed in the already stacked Eastern Conference. Normally watching a PG run the alley-oop on the break is sweet because he’ll dish it off to a high flying wingman or a big. When Rose does it himself, it even makes Tracy McGrady wonder where did his career go if he wasn’t so fragile.

Why can’t we get Rose in the Dunk Contest this year is beyond me. His assault on Goran Dragic last season immediately made fans and haters alike marvel at the fact that the third year guard is the leader of the Bulls, even if he’s not the most outspoken.
