Album: Preemo – Concrete Dreams

Point blank, there hasn’t been a Latino rapper from Houston that has done something on a large scale since the days of South Park Mexican. Preemo on the other hand has a different take on the situation. First, he’s a gypsy who wanders between Texas, Mexico and some parts of the Southwest for home so there goes the generic SUC upbringing story. He learned how to hype up crowds in Mexico, his favorite DJ is currently deported in Mexico, he’s probably one of the few rappers who could make a song go strictly from honesty and wit and he doesn’t make the style of music videos where a few silicone implanted women will dance inside of a grocery store.

Instead, the kid just makes honest to God music. He’s taken the mantra of wholesale and pushed it to the moon with the kind of hustle that would make most people sweat bullets. His most notable releases were sold out of his trunk to the tunes of almost 20,000 copies himself.

So what does Preemo’s second official album Concrete Dreams present? Namely that it’s the breath of fresh air music that the city is beginning to finally accept after years trapped in a murky purple haze. He’s already has acclaim from the Houston Press so why not make more of an imprint digitally? Download link right below.
