Reverse Racism.

Hampton University Homecoming

Alright, let it out of your systems now. The country has gone to hell in a hand basket over race and the mainstream media isn’t covering a damn thing. Lemme clue you in on something here – when any person not black criticizes President Obama, his supports cry and scream racism – well, according to any black person that voted for him I know and Jimmy Carter. It is not racist if somebody disagrees with the President, regardless of his color or creed.

I’m sorry but I’m handing in my “Use Race As An Excuse” Card when it comes to matters like this. When news stories break of a 15-year old white kid getting intentionally set on fire by three black kids and two white kids (one of which happens to be named and I shit you not: Denver Colorado Jarvis) and not one white person is outraged at this malicious action, something is wrong. I’m sick of hearing about how African-Americans are the victims of all crimes and get sympathy passes from every other race just on account of slavery. Do you realize that since slavery ended, we still are very populous in prison, lacking in education and feed on the teet of government and welfare to the point where people find it actually OKAY to just be a “baby momma”?

Time to throw on the angry hat.

You want to know reason #1 why? Because African-Americans in this country are doing themselves no better when they are busy killing each other and then want to look for sympathy when another race does it to them. Stupidity may not know race or bounds but if the killings and the robberies and the idiocy stopped then the media wouldn’t have a face to tack on to everything deemed socially bad in this country. Nothing was learned from the savaged beating and murder of Derrion Albert because the shit still happens.

I’ve seen a classmate of mine miss his graduation due to his killing, I’ve seen plastered murals and Facebook statuses given to the friends of the dead due to senseless violence. When students at Hampton University want to be upset and in outage over Nikole Churchill winning the title of “Miss Hampton” because she isn’t black, failure to read the WHOLE story shows something. Folks at Hampton’s main campus can be upset for ONE reason only – because Ms. Churchill attends the Virginia Beach campus.

You can’t miss the irony in the white woman with the black spelled name wins the title though.

But why are you mad at that? Is it because she’s white when she actually looks a hell of a lot better than her competition (with some sour ass “bitter” women looks on their faces to boot), that she broke the color barrier at one of “our” prestigious HBCU’s? I mean, we’re talking about a campus filled with women and arguably on a voting scale. So obviously, if this is a popularity contest – those other 9 black contestants lost because the majority believed Nikole was well, better.

Hell, there was a white valedictorian at Morehouse a few years ago named Joshua Packwood (thankfully he graduated before Morehouse instituted this ridiculous dress code policy they have now).

I’m just wondering this though – when you want to be mad at whites for getting upset at Obama just for being critical of him (which we are all predisposed to do because well, the majority of us ELECTED him and want him to succeed) then you’re all up in arms screaming racism and lay off the President but when it comes to the actions of your own, my fellow African-Americans towards those same people that did you wrong, you say nothing. Even if they attack those who didn’t even deserve it. You can’t blame hip-hop for everything.

I’ll give you this regarding Obama and the Nobel Prize, even though he had only been in office for two weeks before the voting closed on the award – apparently the boys at Nobel felt that Obama had done enough in TWO WEEKS to get the award. Not saying that the award has lost some luster but if the man who invented dynamite can reform and work towards peace and Al Gore can get one for global warming, I’m pretty sure that Obama was in line for getting one too.

So, this isn’t a call to arms but more of a rant of one dissatisfied African-American who can’t seemingly get a grip on how America has spiraled out of control, to where there is more focus on what is going on outside of our community than from within. I’m pretty sure you can question why the hell was that “Balloon Boy” not in school a lot easier than question how many people have to die and how disorganized we are as a people before you get a grip on reality.
