Five Introspective Thoughts

langston_hughesMr. Langston Hughes, one of my many inspirations to succeed.

In lieu of my previous “random thoughts” post, I decide to come across with another one, only shortened to five this time due to the fact I have to be at work at seven. Ugh.

1. Get Over It
- The past is the past. Especially if it’s over something small and almost meaningless now as opposed to when it was actually stir-crazy worthy. Everybody in a way gets hurt by somebody and holding grudges about it shows how much disinterest you have in growing up. There are folks I don’t associate with or hang with and it’s not because I don’t like them or they’ve pissed me off to the umpteenth degree, it’s just a notion of them not fitting who I’d want around me. Like Bill Cosby said, “I don’t know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody.”

2. I Hardly Answer Notes On Facebook.
- I remember I tried to write a note a day on Facebook and the only one that garnered any steam happened to be the one that Swag 4.0 came up with (Niggas vs. Haters), but for the 25 Random Things, Me in 3’s & A Lil’ Honesty’s of the world, I salute you for trying to help people learn things about the friends some people consider close to them. Also, I don’t answer notes half the time because I have my own web space to do all of that. So here’s a few fun facts: I’ve been to Oklahoma, Louisiana & California, I have three nicknames that range from Head Detective to Brando or B for short, I’d love to visit Brazil, NYC & Atlanta and I bet only TWO people from the MWC will comment on this. Besides, if you have to ask me a question – I suggest you do it on your own accord, without me having to beg to you do it.

3. Text > Phone Calls
- If you’ve known me, plain and simple I don’t like talking on the phone for long periods of time. It’s just arduous, a constant shift of unnecessary movement and then people get a little too wired up over something, Plus, you get the type of folks who wait all until midnight to call which is prone for you to fall asleep. I have an unlimited text plan and 450 minutes, do you really think I’m going to try and answer every phone call I get? I’m more likely to respond to a text than anything. Side note: I’ve avoided calls just for not wanting to talk to people, all attributed to my dislike of being on the phone. Texting is another story.

4. Make Your Decisions For You
- This kind of goes with the pleasing everyone aesthetic but fact is, there are going to be some decisions you make which make your overall life better at the expense of the general public. Some decisions require tact and letting cooler heads prevail and others require some guns blazing, yelling and screaming to get the point across. I was never the guy who carried a weapon so the majority of my decisions (well, the good ones) have come with some thought out planning instead of instantly reacting to something. If you feel confident in a decision, what is the need for second guessing? Just don’t make the decision that leads you down a spiral of confusion and problems.

5. One Person Can Ruin It For Everyone
- This is for those who seemingly believe that one person out of the entire flock can mess up something you feel totally good. For example, one woman/man will piss you off or get under your skin to the point where you deem EVERY other member of the species unworthy. Admit it to yourselves, you know one person that almost killed it for every person you may have wanted to date/take an interest in. I actually think I’ve been that person on nearly three occasions now so while it may sound hypocritical coming from my perspective, it still is somewhat fact. (BTW, to say that I am a loser is only by opinion and not fact. Losers are those who will never lift themselves up from defeat and won’t strive to make things better for themselves. I lost that status a while ago, no need for untruths to pass through here).

And a quote for emphasis:

“I am surrounded by the fears of the Devil and the joys of pain, but pain is never defeated. He is only strengthened by the idle thoughts of men and the ideals of their struggles. No words are spoken between the two brothers, one who causes grief and destruction while the other feasts upon its brother’s creation. But through the light there is hope, a chance for me to climb my way out of the abyss and unshackled from the roots of pain and the branches of the Devil. That hope is given to me by God, by his greater good and by his best actions. for my worsts are placed behind me and I can finally see the sun ahead of me. I am no longer blind or deaf from hearing the sirens of my pasts. I can finally be able to consider myself a man once again – proud to wear my title and grow day by day.”
