Love, KO’d by Hate.

do the right thing

Twenty years ago, this movie was released onto the viewing public and even now it still can get somebody hot under the collar.

As hot as it is here in Houston/Missouri City, I wouldn’t be shocked if for one day, I walked to my job, wondering about my check and getting paid and then the whole day just culminated with a good friend of mine being murdered by the police and then the whole building gets shut down.

Let’s be clear, racism is still in America, regardless of where you are. Just because you have a black president doesn’t mean black folks won’t do things most thing deemed “black” by pop culture.

Even when speaking about the film, Spike Lee had this to offer, “White people still ask me, “Why did Mookie throw the trashcan through the window?”

Retorting, “Black people in twenty years have never asked me why.”
